Duke Energy Florida Multiyear Agreement
Duke Energy Florida's Approved Multiyear Agreement
How we're building a smarter, more reliable energy future for Florida customers.
About the Approved Agreement
On July 15, 2024, Duke Energy Florida, consumer representatives and business groups reached a comprehensive multiyear (2025-2027) rate agreement that focused on some of the most important common priorities for our 2 million customers across the state.
On Aug. 21, 2024, the Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) voted to approve that agreement, enabling Duke Energy Florida to continue making investments to reduce outages, shorten response times, meet future energy demands, increase clean, solar generation and explore innovative technologies to generate cost savings for our customers.
While the agreement allows for an average annual 2% bill increase over a three-year period, with the removal of certain costs at the end of 2024, we still expect customer bills to decrease in January 2025.
In fact, based on current projections, we anticipate typical residential customers using 1,000 kilowatt-hours will save an estimated $9.77, or approximately 6%, on their electric bills in January 2025 when compared to December 2024.
Additional customer benefits from the agreement include:
- Continued grid modernization to serve increased population growth through improved reliability, resulting in fewer outages and shorter restoration times.
- Ongoing power plant enhancements and efficiencies to allow them to produce more power with the same amount of fuel – generating savings for customers.
- Building 12 new solar plants between 2025 and 2027, adding another 900 megawatts (MW) of clean energy to Florida’s grid.
- Continued investments in innovative renewable energy technologies such as utility-scale battery storage to meet growing energy needs, improve reliability and build a stronger, smarter energy grid.
