Volunteerism Spreading Positive Energy

With volunteerism as a cornerstone of Duke Energy for decades, helping communities become stronger is the focus of our year-round Volunteers In Action program.

Duke Energy maintains an electronic “community page” on its employee web site where employees can lead projects or sign up to volunteer. The company also supports these volunteer efforts by offering employees grants through The Duke Energy Foundation that can provide supplies and equipment for qualifying projects.

At the heart of Volunteers In Action is the Global Service Event, an annual corporate-wide focused volunteer effort that encourages employees to give back to their communities. Duke Energy employees and retirees demonstrated their community spirit in 2008 when they led and participated in close to 700 projects and volunteered more than 245,000 hours to nonprofit organizations.
