"I appreciate that the discipline and structure that was ingrained in me by the Corps is well served within Duke Energy. I know that my personal drive and search for excellence are valued and appreciated by management and my peers."

“Duke Energy makes it less stressful to be a citizen soldier. I am proud to be part of a company that allows me to serve in my community, for my country and for our allies. Not only does Duke Energy allow me to do so but they also fully support my efforts. Duke Energy understands what it means to help those in need.”

We value the leadership, reliability and high-tech skills veterans bring to our organization, as well as their loyalty and integrity. Duke Energy is proud of our long history of providing career opportunities to our military, including transitioning military service members, National Guard & reservists, veterans and military spouses.

Tools and resources to start your civilian career

Why you belong at Duke Energy

We employ more than 2,000 military veterans. Careers include, but are not limited to:

  • project managers who support the transmission and distribution of energy to consumers
  • engineers who operate generating facilities
  • lineworkers who connect customers to the grid
  • cyber security analysts who defend our network

Annually, we hire over 300 veterans.

We have an internal veteran-network group with over 450 members that mentors new hires, helps veterans adjust to Duke Energy's culture and eases the transition to civilian life called "Together We Stand."

We provide 120 hours of annual military leave with full pay for National Guard and Reserve members.

We are partnered with Enable America, Hiring our Heros and NC 4 Me, which provides training and job placement assistance for veterans.

We empower our employees to be leaders. We have a dedicated learning and development program, The Duke Energy Leadership Academy, that provides tools and resources to grow our employees professionally.

We power our communities

We give back and build relationships by volunteering in our local communities, our veteran employees continue to serve when they join Duke Energy.
We target specific community initiatives that generate long-term, large-scale impact.
