About the Customer Assistance Program

Intended to make monthly bills more manageable, the Customer Assistance Program provides qualifying customers a flat monthly credit of up to $42 for a period of 12 months.

Eligibility and approval

To receive the Customer Assistance Program credit, you must first be approved for the Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) or the Crisis Intervention Program (CIP) for your Duke Energy electric bill. Apply for these assistance programs by contacting your local Department of Social Services to complete the LIEAP/CIP application process.

Once Duke Energy receives notification of your approved application, the credit will be automatically applied to your bill. Learn more about eligibility requirements for LIEAP or CIP today.
