Upgrade and Start Saving

Schedule an appointment with a Duke Energy approved contractor to receive a quote on upgrading your attic insulation. The contractor will perform all necessary work and then apply your Duke Energy instant rebate directly to your invoice. Please note: Duke Energy performs periodic inspections to ensure the quality and professionalism of our contractors.

Insulation keeps your home warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Without proper insulation, the hot or cold air outside can seep into your living space, causing your air conditioner or heater to work harder than it should to keep your home comfortable. This can lead to higher-than-expected energy bills.

You may want to consider adding insulation if you meet any of the following criteria:
- Your home is more than 15 years old and has never had additional insulation installed
- Your insulation is level with or below the attic floor joists
- You have recently remodeled or had work done in your attic that could have damaged the original insulation
You may want to consider adding insulation if you meet any of the following:
- If your home is 15 years or older and has never had additional insulation installed.
- If your insulation is level with or below the attic floor joists, you probably need to add more insulation.
- If you have remodeled or had work done in your attic recently that could have damaged the original insulation.
- Complete a Home Energy Check.
- Complete the attic insulation upgrade process with an approved Duke Energy contractor.
Additional requirements include:
- Multi-family properties and manufactured homes are not eligible for participation.
- Insulation recommendations must result from a Duke Energy home audit (HEC).
- Eligible residences must have whole-house cooling and/or electric heating.
- The weighted average R-value of the existing insulation over the total attic square footage (above the conditioned space) must be less than or equal to R-19. (Exception: may exclude conditioned space for a recent addition to the residence.)
- Any residence that has participated in Duke Energy’s attic insulation upgrade program is not eligible to participate again. (Exception: If the residence loses insulation through an “Act of God” and the loss is not covered by insurance, the residence is eligible to participate a second time. It is the responsibility of the homeowners to provide Duke Energy with a letter from their insurance company stating that the insulation was not covered.)
- Any residence with knob and tube wiring must be documented or certified as not energized by a Florida licensed electrician.
