- The Home Wiring Repair Essential plan covers 120/240 volt wiring, switches, outlets, ground fault circuit indicator (GFCI) receptacles, breakers, fuses, fuse/breaker panels, the meter housing that's attached to the home and the components inside it.
- No, but we do offer a discounted rate of (15%) off the technician's normal labor rate for noncovered repairs.
- No, coverage is limited to your home and attached garage.
- No, acts of God, which include but are not limited to lightning, are not covered.
- No, if there are any electrical problems in the home at the time you request the Home Wiring Repair Essential plan, the problems are considered pre-existing. Pre-existing conditions are eligible for a 15% discount off the contractor's normal labor rate.
- The Home Wiring Repair Essential plan does not cover building code violations, upgrades and new wiring within a residence, doorbells, intercoms, security system wiring, low voltage wiring and overloaded circuits. Noncovered repairs are completed at a 15% discount off contractor's normal labor rates to the customer. Refer to the terms and conditions for more details.
- Home Wiring Repair Essential is available to residential customers who live in a metered single family home, townhouse, condominium or manufactured home. Home Wiring Repair Essential is not available to apartment complexes or commercial properties.
- The annual limit amount is up to $1,500 per calendar year. The $1,500 limit is reset each year beginning in January. As repairs are completed during the year, the cost of the repair is deducted from the annual limit. If you go over the $1,500 limit during the year, you are required to pay the contractor directly for any overages, which are calculated at a 15% discount off the normal labor rate.
- Yes, there is an initial 30-day waiting period for covered work. Noncovered work (that is eligible for the 15% discount) is offered as soon as the customer enrolls in the service.
- The 15% noncovered repair discount is a 15% discount off the contractor's normal labor rate, paid directly to the contractor and offered by the contractor for repairs not covered under the Home Wiring Repair Essential service.
- No, all Home Wiring Repair Essential repairs are scheduled by one or our representatives. For repairs call, 888.999.8856. If repairs are completed without contacting Duke Energy, the customer would be fully responsible for all charges.
- You can cancel at any time, but there is a $150 reinstatement fee payable in full when you reinstate the service.
- Home Wiring Repair Essential service is automatically transferred to your new home when you move within the Duke Energy territory and there is no 30-day waiting period for covered repairs. If you do not want Home Wiring Repair Essential service at your new residence, simply call 888.999.8856.
- No, only the circuit and wiring that supplies service to the EVSE is covered for repair. An EVSE may be covered with an individual manufacturer warranty. For additional questions on your manufacturer warranty, please contact your supplier of the EVSE.
- Yes, installation requires for the power to be turned off. The electrician may request that you turn off any major appliances or sensitive electronics prior to cutting the power.
