Carolinas Restoration

Rebuilding and restoring the mountains of western North Carolina

Updates on the recovery from Helene

Oct. 30, 2024: We are taking a comprehensive approach to rebuilding in the mountains after Hurricane Helene, addressing everything from system damage inspections and meter repairs to debris removal and power restoration in the hardest-hit areas. Our crews are focused on solutions to ensure safe, reliable power for western North Carolina communities as they continue to recover. The remaining outages are largely concentrated in Bat Cave, Spindale, Lake Lure, Spruce Pine, Swannanoa and other communities where there are broader recovery efforts due to catastrophic damage to buildings and infrastructure. We’re using helicopters and tracked vehicles to assist operations in the hardest-hit areas. Some customers experienced significant or total damage to their home or business and are unable to receive power. If you are a customer who has been affected by Helene and need assistance, we have resources and flexible payment solutions to help you through this difficult time.
