Direct Stock Purchase and Dividend Reinvestment Program

At any time, you may request that all or a portion of the shares of our common stock credited to your account be sold. You may submit your through your online account, send written instructions either by mail or fax, or by telephone. Requests received in writing must be signed by all registered holders of those shares.
The sale price of any shares sold will be the weighted average price of all shares sold for participants in the plan during the period in which the independent agent is provided with plan shares for that sale. You will receive the proceeds of the sale, less a nominal brokerage fee (currently $0.10 per share) and any required tax withholdings or transfer taxes.
Checks for the proceeds from the sale of plan shares are mailed by first-class mail on the third business day after the date plan shares are sold.
An investment date for optional investments will occur each Thursday. If that day is not a business day, the investment date will be the business day immediately following that Thursday. Optional investments must be received no later than two business days before an investment date. Automatic bank draft funds will be drawn on the 16th of each month or, if that date falls on a nonbusiness day, the next business day. If the draft occurs on any day other than a Friday, the funds will be invested during the same week. Bank drafts occurring on a Friday will have an investment date in the following week.
Online Account Access
Shareholders who have accessed their account online within the last six months were sent an email containing a unique PIN and login instructions. This email will be sent to the email address associated with their online account. If the shareholder has not received an email by May 10, or needs to establish their online account, they will need to request a unique PIN. This PIN may be requested by navigating to the Individual Investors page. Once there, you should:
- Click on the Log In box.
- Click Create Profile under First Time Users

To access your account online, you will need your Duke Energy account number to request and receive a PIN.
