Amy Hunter

Chief Compliance Officer
Amy Hunter serves as vice president of corporate audit services and chief compliance officer for Duke Energy. She is responsible for establishing the strategic direction of the audit function, ensuring the execution of an independent risk-based audit plan, attracting and developing talent, and acting as the function’s interface between the audit committee of Duke Energy’s board of directors and the executive management team.
Having served in her audit position since July 2019, she assumed the added role of chief compliance officer in March 2024, where she leads Duke Energy’s compliance program, which provides independent oversight and governance of the organization’s compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.
Amy has more than 25 years of experience in public accounting and the energy industry. Since joining the company in 2007, she has held several leadership positions. For six years, she served as a director in corporate audit services, with accountability for the execution and overall quality of work performed in both the corporate and commercial areas. As assistant corporate secretary, she provided support for regular and special board and committee meetings of Duke Energy’s board of directors.
Prior to joining Duke Energy, Amy worked for 14 years at two international accounting firms, Grant Thornton and Arthur Andersen.
A native of South Carolina, Amy graduated from Wake Forest University with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. She is a licensed certified public accountant in both North Carolina and South Carolina.
Amy is active in the community and volunteers for several nonprofit organizations, including Habitat for Humanity, Second Harvest Food Bank and Heart Tutoring, a math intervention program to help elementary students develop the math skills needed to be academically successful.
