Oscar Suris
Senior Vice President and
Chief Communications Officer
Oscar Suris serves as senior vice president and chief communications officer for Duke Energy. He leads the development of communications strategies that advance the company’s brand and support its clean energy transition. This includes overseeing media relations, executive communications, employee communications, social media, brand and product advertising, issues management and business unit support.
Suris joined Duke Energy in May 2023 from Edelman, where he served as president of Edelman New York, the largest marketing operation at the global integrated communications company. Prior to joining Edelman, he served as executive managing director for C-suite strategies and crisis communications at Zeno Group.
His corporate communications experience includes 20 years of providing strategic counsel to Fortune 100 companies, including serving as executive vice president and head of corporate communications at Wells Fargo & Company, and senior leadership roles at Ford Motor Company and AutoNation Inc.
Suris is also a veteran of the newspaper industry, having served five years as a staff reporter for The Wall Street Journal and in staff roles reporting business news for The Miami News and the Orlando Sentinel.
A native of Cuba, Suris graduated from the University of Florida with a bachelor’s degree in finance. He has been named six times to PRWeek’s “Power List” of the top 50 professionals in public relations and currently serves on the board of The LaGrant Foundation, which promotes diversity in the advertising, marketing and public relations professions; as a trustee for the Institute for Public Relations, which promotes the use of research in the field of public relations; and as a member of the Page Society, a global professional association for senior communications professionals.
Suris and his wife, Shana, live in Charlotte. They have three children.
