Integrated Resource Planning
An IRP is a “road map” that identifies potential plans for a utility to meet future energy and demand requirements while considering the associated risks and benefits to customers. It identifies supply and demand side resources needed to meet a utility’s projected demand over time to ensure reliable service to customers under certain conditions as projected at the time the IRP was prepared. IRPs are prepared at regular intervals and are subject to change as market conditions, technologies, and state and federal regulations evolve over time.
